Negli ultimi anni North Sails One Design ha lavorato duramente per lo sviluppo di vele in grado di fornire quel nodo di velocità in più, disperatamente cercato dai velisti, cercando di creare un profilo facile e veloce da regolare, adatto a tutte le diverse caratteristiche dei timonieri di Optimist.

La prima regola pratica che ci siamo imposti è stata quella di ottenere una vela più piatta possibile senza compromettere il target di velocità. Mantenere questo tipo di assetto consentirà di orzare di più, soprattutto in partenza e nelle prime virate; riuscire a navigare in queste condizioni risulterà essere la chiave vincente per le tue regate.

Tutti i timonieri che hanno provato le nostre vele sono rimasti soddisfatti al di sopra delle aspettative in qualsiasi condizione di vento ed onda, i campionati mondiali del 2004 le hanno viste piazzarsi a 2° e 4° posto!!

North Sails One Design has been working harder than ever for the past few years developing the fastest, state-of-the-art sails for the Optimist. Sailors all over the world are desperate for that extra knot of speed and to help achieve this North Sails has had a team working full time on research and development of easy to trim fast shapes for all size Optimist sailors.

As far as choosing a sail, our rule of thumb has always been to sail with the flattest sail possible without sacrificing your speed. If you can sail as fast with a flatter sail you will be able to point and sail higher. This is very key because the start and first tacks during the race are very important so and the ability to point high will really put you one step ahead.

The North New Zealand Optimist Sails combine top end boat speed and pointability like no other sail in the world. Sailors that have used these sails are overwhelmingly satisfied with their performance in all varieties of wind and wave conditions. Internationally, these sails placed 2nd and 4th in the 2004 IODA World Championship and have recently made a splash in local waters placing 4 out of the top 8 in the 2005 USODA Florida State Championship. It's no secret, these sails are fast.
