| Grande successo per le vele North Sails per il Bénéteau 25 agli Europei di Anzio di classe, disputati la prima settimana di ottobre da una flotta di 64 barche. L’imbarcazione “Fra’ Martina” dei fratelli torinesi Edoardo e Vanni Pavesio, timonata da un Lorenzo Bressani veramente in forma, ha vinto il Campionato nonostante un OCS, dimostrando una velocità notevolissima in ogni andatura. La costanza nei risultati è stata la chiave del successo, in un difficile campo di regata che ha costretto tutti gli altri equipaggi ad una grande discontinuità di risultati. “Frà Martina” ha utilizzato la nuova randa PX-3 in Pentex™ ed il nuovo spinnaker Polyester FR-2 disegnati e realizzati dalla North Sails Italia, iniziando così nel migliore dei modi una collaborazione che proseguirà in futuro con l’obiettivo di realizzare vele sempre più veloci. Il successo della North Sails è stato completato dal quarto posto dell’equipaggio danese capitanato da Jasper Radich, anch’esso con vele realizzate in collaborazione tra North Sails Italia e North Sails Denmark. |
| Big success for North Sails in the Beneteau 25 Europeans, held in Anzio in the first week of October in a 64 boats fleet. “Fra’ Martina”, owned by Edoardo and Vanni Pavesio and helmed consistently by Lorenzo Bressani, has won the event in spite of an OCS, showing a very remarkable speed both upwind and downwind. The regularity of the results has been the key of the success, in very shifty wind conditions forcing the other teams to fail some races. “Fra’ Martina” has used the new PX-3 mainsail made by Pentex™ and the new Polyester spinnaker FR-2, both designed and realized by North Sails Italy, beginning a collaboration that is going to continue in the future with the objective of making sails always faster. The North Sails success has been completed by the Danish Jesper Radich, who came 4th using as well sails designed in strict cooperation between North Sails Italy and North Sails Denmark.

Anche il Campionato Svizzero della classe 420 si è concluso con un successo North Sails Italia, grazie all'equipaggio Bertone - Malagugini che dopo 9 prove si è imposto sugli altri concorrenti.
3 volte primi sulla linea di arrivo, 2°,3°,5°,7°: questi i risultati utili di ciascuna prova, a dimostrare che come sempre le vele North Sails Italia sono pronte a dominare qualsiasi campo di regata; un altro risultato importante dopo una stagione densa di successi. Complimenti all'equipaggio Bertone-Malagugini per l'ottima performance. |

Good news for the 420 sails from North Sails Italy. After 9 races, the crew Bertone - Malagugini won the last 420 Suisse Championship. A solid series of finishes (three times first, 2nd, 3rd, 5th,7th ) shows as usual our sails are at the top of this class. Another excellent result for North Sails Italy after a very successful season. Thank you to the crew Bertone - Malagugini for this perfomance.

Un altro risultato di rilievo delle nostre vele NORTH SAILS ITALIA per la classe 420: l’equipaggio francese Vigna - Gatti hanno concluso al terzo posto il Campionato Europeo: dopo una bellissima serie di risultati di giornata è giunta purtroppo una squalifica nell’ultima prova che ha impedito di guadagnare il gradino più alto del podio. Le vele hanno dimostrato come al solito di essere al top, veloci in tutte le condizioni e facili da regolare, permettendo all’equipaggio di esprimere al massimo le sue qualità tecniche.
Complimenti a Guillaume ed a Thibault per questo altro ottimo risultato. |
2002 420 Junior European Championship

Another excellent result for the 420 sails from North Sails Italia. The French crew Vigna-Gatti finished the European Championship in 3rd place after a solid series of finishes. An unfortunate DSQ in the last race made it impossible for them to win the championship but shows how strong they were on the water. As usual, our sails are at the top of this class, fast in all conditions and very easy to trim allowing the crew to concentrate on tactics instead of rig and boat setup. Thank you Guillaume and Thibault for this excellent result.

| Disputati sia il Campionato Nazionale Francese che l’Europeo della classe FUN. Dal 28 luglio al 3 agosto in una piovosa Bretagna si sono disputati sia il Campionato Nazionale Francese che l’Europeo della classe FUN. Una trentina le imbarcazioni partecipanti ai due eventi con una nutrita rappresentanza internazionale. Nei sei giorni di regate sono state disputate 17 regate, 11 delle quali sono state vinte da “Wonderfun 3” powered by NORTH SAILS ITALIA, ed il nostro genoa in pentex è arrivato primo ben 14 volte. Un risultato eccezionale, a conferma del fatto che le nostre vele sono le migliori disponibili in questa classe. Il campionato Nazionale Francese è stato vinto da “Wonderfun 3” di Alessandro Solerio (tutto North Italia), secondo “Dulcis in fundo” di Marco Redaelli, terzo (e primo francese) “Obportus” di Olivier Roussey (tutto North Italia). Il Campionato Europeo è stato vinto da “Dulcis in fundo” (genoa North Italia), secondo (e primo timoniere/armatore) “Wonderfun 3” (tutto North Italia), quinto “Obportus” (tutto North Italia). |
The Fun Class sailed his French National and European Championships in St. Briac (France)
During the last week the Fun Class sailed his French National and European Championships in St. Briac (France). Big results for North Sails Italy, winner of 11 races on the 17 sailed by “Wonderfun 3” owned and helmed by Sandro Solerio. Wonderfun 3 totally powered by North Italy won the French National and concluded at 2nd place the Europeans. 3rd and first of french crews at the Nationals (and 5th at Europeans) “Obportus” owned and helmed by Olivier Roussey, totally powered by North Italy. Winner of the Europeans Dulcis in Fundo owned by Marco Redaelli equipped with North Italy pentex genoa.

Tavira (Portogallo), 10 - 19 luglio 2002: E’ stata troppo forte la sinergia dei tre elementi che hanno consentito a Coraline Jonet e a Magali Pallanca di imporsi nel Campionato Mondiale femminile 420, svoltosi a Tavira in Portogallo: Equipaggio: le due atlete francesi hanno inanellato una serie di risultati che per qualità e costanza lasciano a bocca aperta.
Allenatore: Michel Gaveau, uomo North sails Mediterranee, da otto anni riferimento fisso per i one design, al suo secondo successo mondiale nei 420 come allenatore.
Vele: infine il gioco di vele North Sails Italia (randa pentex mod SPE 2K-02, fiocco pentex mod. SPW 2K-02, spi poliestere mod SSL 2K-02) ha tolto ogni speranza di competizione agli avversari dei nostri eroi.

2002 Female 420 class World Championship
Tavira (Portugal), july, 10th-19th 2002: We would like to congratulate Coraline JONET & Magali PALLANCA (Fra) for winning the 420 World Championship in Portugal, after a long and constant series of nice results. This strong crew, plus the big experience of the trainer Michel Gaveau, plus the powerful of North Sails Italy was a perfect cocktail to win. After winning the Men's World Championship several years ago in Newport (USA), this is the second time that Michel Gaveau as trainer won the 420 World Championships. Michel is now an OD man in our new structure North Sails Mediterranèe.
Coraline and Magali won with a set of North Sails Italy developed over the years by Luigi Rognoni and Michel Gaveau: SPE 2K-02 pentex mainsail ; SPW 2K-02 pentex jib ; SSL 2K-02 poliestere spi.

 Bnl Cardi (Yc Torri) di Bruno Bottacini affidato a Ivano Brighenti ha confermato il decennale dominio nella classe Surprise delle vele North Sails grazie al doppio successo nel campionato europeo ed italiano. Il successo non è arrivato inaspettato sia per la bravura dell'equipaggio sia per il lavoro di sviluppo delle vele da parte della North Sails. Bnl Cardi ha vinto utilizzando il genoa disegnato per essere utilizzato con le volanti. |

We made some subtle changes in our fast designs again this year to stay ahead of the pack. congratulations to the crew who chose our genoa design for running backstays.

| Sé è vero che il Farr 40 è il monotipo con il più alto livello tecnico dei partecipanti che dire allora delle vele! I risultati parlano da soli, Nerone ha vinto sia la tappa del circuito del mediterraneo di Porto Rotondo sia una settimana più tardi il campionato europeo a Porto Cervo, 4 barche nei primi 5 posti avevano vele North Sails, un risultato che non ha bisogno di commenti. |
North Sails too strong in farr 40 europeans
If the farr 40 is the one design class with the most exacting technical requirements then what can we say about the sails. The results of the recent european championships speak for themselves! Nerone won the last leg of the mediterranian championship the week before the europeans at porto cervo which they also won but 4 of the top 5 boats also had north sails. If you want to win in farr 40s, go north!

Ancora un successo nella classe J-24 per la North Sails Italia: l'equipaggio delle Fiamme Gialle, con Andrea Casale alla barra, si è aggiudicato il Campionato Italiano 2002 di Marciana Marina (Isola d'Elba) grazie alla grande regolarità dimostrata nelle varie prove. La velocità sviluppata da "J di F" è stata spesso davvero notevole, e questo, per stessa osservazione del timoniere, anche grazie alla qualità delle vele: la randa AP-2, il genoa GP-5, il fiocco KW-1 e lo spinnaker Full Radial, tutte North Sails San Diego prodotte dalla North Sails Italia.
Non dimentichiamo inoltre la bravura dei ragazzi che hanno accompagnato Andrea in questa avventura, aiutandolo a mantenere sempre velacela barca: Ernesto Angeletti, Romolo Emiliani, Ercole Petraglia e Benedetto Aprea. Ancora una volta l'equipaggio della Guardia di Finanza ha dimostrato che impegno e allenamento sono le chiavi per avere successo in una classe come il J-24! |
J-24 Italians: Casale and North Sails over all
Another success in the J-24 class for North Sails Italy: the Fiamme Gialle crew, with Andrea Casale helming, caught the 2002 Italian Championships in Marciana Marina (Elba Island) thanks to the regularity of the placements in the whole series. The "J di F" speed was frequently outstanding, also (as helmsman says) thanks to the quality of the sails: AP-2 mainsail, GP-5 genoa, KW-1 jib and Full Radial spinnaker, all North sails San Diego models produced by North Sails Italy.
We have to thank Ernesto Angeletti, Romolo Emiliani, Ercole Petraglia and Benedetto Aprea who have been with Andrea during this event, strongly helping him to keep the boat fast.
Once again the Guardia di Finanza crew demonstrated that concentration and training are the keys to win in this class.

Our President Tom Whidden and North Sails Italia are going to host a North Sails PARTY again this year after the racing on Friday, 3 May.
As last year, we will use the bar Excelsior in the piazza.
The party will go from around 4.00 p.m. or whenever we get in to 6.00 p.m. or so.

Primo Cup di Montecarlo e Settimana internazionale di Alassio monotipi: queste le due tappe del debutto delle nuove vele North Sails Italia per il Bénéteau 25. La barca test è stata “Blu Canaglia”, imbarcazione affittata e approntata per regatare con budget assai ridotto da parte dei tre giovani ed entusiasti armatori Niccolò Ubertalli, Roberto Quaglia e Zeno Mottura.
Il timone è stato affidato al forte laserista e tornadista Andrea Casale, vera e propria “sicurezza” alla barra nonostante avesse due soli giorni in tutto di esperienza sul Bénéteau 25. La velocità della barca è stata davvero notevole in tutte le regate, disputate con le più varie condizioni di vento, tanto che “Blu Canaglia” non è mai uscita dalle prime cinque posizioni della classifica delle singole regate disputate nell’ambito di entrambe le manifestazioni. Equipaggi sulla carta molto più forti hanno dovuto inchinarsi alla velocità e alla volontà dei cinque ragazzi di “Blu Canaglia”, capaci di concludere quinti a Montecarlo (sempre nei primi quattro) e secondi ad Alassio. Complimenti a loro e complimenti anche a chi è stato capace di batterli (“Fra’ Martina” dei fratelli Pavesio timonata da Lorenzo Bressani a Montecarlo, “Ballalinda” di Zampori-Broccanello con Sommariva e Valenti ad Alassio). Ci piace pensare che con un budget un po’ più consistente “Blu Canaglia” avrebbe potuto rendere la vita ancora più dura a tutti loro… |
Bénéteau 25 2002 season: the new North sails are sparking!
Primo Cup in Monaco and International Alassio One Design week: these are the two steps of the new Bénéteau 25 North sails launch. The test boat has been “Blu Canaglia”, rented boat prepared for racing with very low budget by the three young and enthusiastic owners Niccolò Ubertalli, Roberto Quaglia and Zeno Mottura. The boat has been helmed by the strong Laser and tornado sailor Andrea Casale, who had very good feeling with the boat since the first time he raced on it – only two days of experience on the boat before Primo Cup! Boat speed has been really outstanding in every race and every wind and wave condition, so that “Blu Canaglia” didn’t end out of the first five positions in all the races sailed both in Primo Cup and in Alassio. Crew teorically much more strong had to bend down to the five “Blu Canaglia” guys speed and resolution, that were able to end the races 5th in Monaco and 2nd in Alassio.
Congratulations to them and also to the crew that were able to beat them (Pavesio brothers’ “Fra’ Martina”, helmed by Lorenzo Bressani, in Monaco and Zampori-Broccanello’s “Ballalinda” with Sommariva and Valenti in Alassio). We love to think that, with a bigger budget, “Blu Canaglia” would have caused even more difficulties to all of them…
